| From November 21, 2006 to February 3, 2007, there was a two-page excerpt from my manuscript, Housewife on the Edge, posted on my website. One of the characters, who, unfortunately, is the villainess of the book, was named “French Anne Young.” French Anne Young is actually the name of a lady I knew in Houston. Contrary to the character in my book, my memories of her are of a kind, loving teacher who was kind to both of my children, whom she taught in preschool. She has none of the bad traits of my character. That character is completely fictitious. No one should confuse the real French Anne Young with the character in my book. At Mrs. Young’s request, I have changed the name of the character in the book, and I want to assure her and anyone who has read this manuscript or any excerpt from it that the character in my book does not depict the real French Anne Young. It was a hurtful thing to do, and it has weighed heavily on my heart. I am truly sorry that I used Mrs. Young’s name in the book and hereby apologize to her and to her family.
